Christening Gown with Tucked Bands and a Puffing Band

The skirt of this beautiful christening gown features two tucked bands and a puffing band. This gown has a finished length of forty-two inches.

 

The front yoke has a center puffing strip with pin tucks sewn horizontally on the outer edges. Lace insertion separates these elements.

 

The back yoke consists of lace insertion and pin tucks.

 

The fabric ruffle at the bottom of the skirt has three pin tucks running the length of the ruffle and is finished with wide lace edging.

The gown is completed with the addition of a T-cap bonnet featuring the same lace insertion and pin tucks as the gown.

Christening Dresses for Twin Babies

These dresses were designed by Sarah Howard Stone for her twin great grandchildren. The gowns are similarly designed but feature different laces. The yokes have embroidery on the center front yoke along with pintucks. The back yoke has pintucks running horizontally across the width. The skirt has two sets of five pintucks finished with a flat lace ruffle.

Slip Created to Coordinate with an Italian Christening Gown

This beautiful linen christening gown was purchased in Italy. The center of the yoke had a tulip embroidered on it. At the client's request, I removed the flower and embroidered an Old English letter "J" in its place. The monogram was embroidered in white.

 

The gown was buttoned at the yoke in the back, but the center back of the skirt was left open. To keep sweet little legs from peeking through, we decided to create a slip that mimicked the skirt design.

The skirt of the slip incorporates 1/4 inch pressed tucks with a band of lace insertion and a flat lace ruffle. An empire yoke was used on the slip. The slip was made in Swiss batiste.

Embroidery on a T-yoke Dress

This T-yoke dress is being made by a client for her daughter. She asked me to embroidery the T-section of the dress using a photograph of a design she liked.

The feather stitching and shadow stitched bow were created using yellow DMC# 745. The roses were embroidered in DMC #761 and DMC #818. The center petals consist of two bullion knots with 7-8 wraps made with the darker pink. The outer petals have five bullion knots with 12-13 wraps which radiate around the center knots.

The daisies have five petals made up of two bullion knots with 4-5 wraps each in the light blue DMC #776 and the center is a French knot using yellow thread. The leaves were created using a satin stitch in DMC #504.

Scalloped Yoke Dress with Ecru Embroidery

The scalloped yoke for this dress was created using Sarah Howard Stone, Inc. Pattern Package I. Ecru lace was shaped to follow the curve of the scallops and hand pin stitched on the upper edge of the lace. I adjusted the depth of the puff sleeve in this pattern by adding an inch to the depth.

The front yoke features feather stitched bows on the high points of the scallops with bullion roses interspersed across the yoke. The back yoke does not have embroidery.

The skirt is embroidered with feather stitched scallops and bows. Rosebuds surrounding the bows finish off the design. The skirt is finished with a lace band and lace ruffle.

This beautiful dress was a custom order and has been sold.

This lovely version of the Babette daygown pattern by Sarah Howard Stone, Inc. is created using white Swiss batiste and beautiful ecru lace. It is embellished with pastel embroidery on the placket and skirt.

Crocheted Baby Blanket

This is the newest version of my crocheted baby blanket. I used DMC #818 in weight #8 to crochet the shell edge. The embroidery includes roses using DMC floss in colors #776 (center) and #818 (outer) and leaves using DMC floss #504 (not the current #504 but an older dye lot).

The following is a beautiful daygown with matching embroidery. The two together create a lovely baby layette.
